Moulin Rouge! (2001)

The film opens in the year 1900, where a suffering and depressed writer named Christian is mourning the loss of his true love: Satine. Determined to have her story written, Christian sits at his desk and begins to type it out on a typewriter. In 1899, one year before, Christian moves to the Paris to become a writer among the Bohemian culture and try create a show called “Spectacular, Spectacular”. To get a chance for a show, he and his companions entered the Mouline Rouge, a cabaret filled with fun and lust. There he met Satine, a pretty, young courtesan who’s only dream is to be a real actress. From there Satine, mistakenly entertained Christian as a duke well apparently he is not. Satine fell in love with Christian the moment Christian sang a few verses of his poem. Their love is challenged by Satine’s ambitions, and also the duke who also wants Satine, but he wants her for his own only. In the end, Satine decided to let Christian go because of the Duke’s threat to kill him, and since Satine is suffering from a dying sickness she decided to let Christian go to let continue with his life. On the opening night of their show, Christian decided to come even though Satine already let him go, there they together with everyone fought for Satine and Christians love which surpassed every challenges brought to them by destiny except one, Satine’s illness.

Since I’m a sucker for musicals, automatically I liked the movie from the moment the cast started singing. I’ve been hearing this movie for quite some time now and it’s such a pity that I only got to view this today.  I love their renditions, and original songs as well. The movie touched my heart, I even got tears on my eyes while watching the last part. I seriously recommend this movie! It’s a must watch, for people who believe in love, freedom, and art.”Come what may, I will love you until my dying day.”
